Experienced HVAC Installer/Tech - Sarasota, FL
The HVAC Installer/Technician will install, repair, or service heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to improve effectiveness and efficiency. Duties may include change-out of entire systems, repair of existing systems, installation of new parts, or preventative maintenance such as changing filters, cleaning ducts, or refilling non-toxic refrigerants.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Consult blueprints or building plans to identify the best solution to resolve systems’ issues.
- Tests pipe or tubing joints or connections for leaks, using a pressure gauge or soap-and-water solution.
- Test electrical circuits or components for continuity, using electrical test equipment.
- Installs new systems or change out old ones.
- Repairs or replaces defective equipment, components, or wiring. Repairs or replaces worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts.
- Cuts materials according to specifications or needs.
- Fabricates parts or components.
- Conducts preventive maintenance such as changing filters, cleaning ducts, or refilling non-toxic refrigerants.
- Reports on the inventory of maintenance and repair parts and supplies.
- Discusses heating or cooling system malfunctions with customers to isolate problems, to verify that repairs are corrected malfunctions, or to arrange follow-on service.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read blueprints, building plans, and repair manuals.
- Ability to use basic hand tools / power tools; power saws, circular saws, jig saws, reciprocating saws; pressure indicators, differential pressure detectors; pneumatic air gauges, refrigerant pressure meters, water pressure gauges.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools; multi-meters, auto-ranging meters, clamp-on multi-meters voltage or current meters- alternating current AC line splitters’ electrical current meters; heating ventilation and air-conditioning/refrigeration HVAC/R clamp meters; voltmeters.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Good customer service skills.
- Must have a valid driver's license and pass a drug test.
- DFWP/ E-Verify participating employer.
- Must speak English, Bilingual is a plus.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience 3- 5 Years in related field required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, loading, unloading and carrying materials.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, and crawl into awkward spaces.
- Must be able to lift 100 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to work in temperatures ranging from 40 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Must be familiar with tag-out requirements and electrical safety precautions.
